AI freelancer revenue model
Earnings with Twin AI clients
- Get an hourly rate based on experience:
- Junior: €60 - €90/h
- Medior: €90 - €120/h
- Senior: €120 - €150/h
Earnings with your own clients
Set your own rates to build your workflow, with two main options:
- Hourly rate – Charge per hour for workflow setup and optimization.
- Fixed fee – Offer a one-time price for automation.
After building your workflow: Fixed fee vs. price per run
- Fixed fee ensures predictable revenue but may reduce client ownership.
- Price per run increases client accountability but makes revenue uncertain.
Choosing a pricing model
- Fixed fee is ideal for new workflows, price per run for mature ones.
- Discuss workflow maintenance costs with clients to set clear expectations.

We are always looking for AI freelancers who can build automation workflows for clients. Whether you bring in your own customers or help us with ours, there are multiple ways to earn money through Twin AI.
Earnings when working with Twin AI clients
If we bring you a client and ask you to build a workflow, you will receive an hourly rate based on your experience level:
- Junior: €60 - €90 per hour
- Medior: €90 - €120 per hour
- Senior: €120 - €150 per hour
Earnings when bringing in your own clients
If you bring in your own customer and use our platform to automate their work, you are free to negotiate your own rate without any restrictions.
Usually, you charge one of these 2:
- Hourly rate – Charge your clients an hourly rate for building and optimizing their AI workflows.
- Fixed fee – Offer a one-time fixed price for setting up an automated workflow.
You can always reach out to us if you want to discuss your hourly rate or fixed fee for your own clients.
And then one of these 2:
- Fixed fee per month – Ask your client how much a repetitive task currently costs and propose an automation solution at a competitive and fixed price. They can get an unlimited amount of runs for the fixed price.
An example: a fixed fee per month
Writing personal development plans at a training institute is typically done by junior Learning Consultants earning €3.500 per month. Each personal development plan takes 2 hours to write:
- 2 hours per plan × 5 plans per week × 4 weeks = 40 hours per month
- If two employees are responsible for this, that’s 80 hours per month
- With an hourly rate of €20, this costs €1.600 per month
If you reduce this process to 10 minutes per plan, that would reduce the total time to 7 hours per month, saving 73 hours. Approximately €1.460 per month.
This is data that you can ask your (potential) client. You can offer this for half the price, so around €700 per month.
- Revenue share per run – When a workflow runs on Twin AI, the costs are split between Twin AI and you as the AI consultant.
An example: a price per run
Writing personal development plans at a training institute is typically done by junior Learning Consultants. Each personal development plan takes 2 hours to write. With an hourly rate of €20, that’s €40 per plan in labor costs.
If you reduce this process to 10 minutes per plan, that brings the cost down to just €3.33 per plan. That’s a saving of €36.67 per run.
By pricing your solution competitively, say, at €15 per run, you offer a clear financial benefit while still maintaining strong margins.
This would eventually add up to 40 x €15 = €600 per month.
Emphasize not just financial savings but also:
- Happier stakeholders with higher productivity
- More time for personal development instead of repetitive tasks
- Fewer human errors
- Less boring work, leading to higher job satisfaction
Choosing between a fixed fee and price per run
Pricing models can significantly impact both your business and your clients. Two common models are fixed fee (a set monthly price) and price per run (charging per use). Each has its advantages and disadvantages, depending on factors like workflow maturity, client behavior, and cost predictability. Below, we compare both models to help you choose the right fit.
Comparison: fixed fee vs. price per run
Fixed fee | Price per run |
---|---|
✅ If your workflow is still improving, clients don’t pay per run but per month. This is helpful in the early stages. | ❌ Clients may hesitate to use the workflow, fearing unpredictable costs per run. Especially if the workflow is under construction and still improving. |
✅ Predictable revenue, as you know your earnings regardless of usage. | ❌ Revenue is uncertain since it depends on the number of runs. |
✅ Encourages client adoption—since they pay monthly, they are more likely to use the workflow. | ❌ Requires a very good workflow, as clients expect each run to be valuable. |
✅ Easier to budget and forecast for both you and the client. | ❌ Harder to forecast revenue. |
❌ Less client ownership—since they don’t pay per run, they might blame the workflow rather than improving their input. | ✅ Increases client ownership—they are more careful with input quality to avoid unnecessary costs. |
❌ Requires more expectation management and dummy-proof workflows—users have no financial incentive to improve their input. | ✅ Less need for training—clients naturally optimize input to minimize costs. |
❌ Higher AI costs for you, as clients might overuse the workflow without consequences. | ✅ Lower AI costs, as clients run workflows only when needed. |
❌ Clients may feel locked into a subscription, leading to dissatisfaction if they don’t use it enough. | ✅ Clients pay only for what they use, making it feel fairer and more transparent. |
When to use which pricing model?
- Choose a fixed fee if your workflow is still evolving, clients need encouragement to use it, or you want stable, predictable revenue. This model works well when adoption is a key priority.
- Choose price per run if your workflow is mature, reliable, and used efficiently. This model works best when clients understand the value of each run and are willing to take ownership of their input.
We don’t recommend switching clients from a fixed fee to a price-per-run model. However, it is possible—at Twin AI, we have done this before. As long as clients see the value in a price-per-run model, they often consider it a fairer pricing approach.
If you charge an upfront fee for building a workflow (whether fixed or hourly), your goal should be to make the workflow as solid as possible. That way, it becomes a passive income source for you.
Important:
Always discuss workflow maintenance with your client. AI tools evolve, and clients may want to test new models that improve output. Additionally, requirements may change, affecting the workflow's outcomes. Make sure to address this upfront.
Will you provide one free hour of support per week? Two? Or will you charge for any additional work? Setting clear expectations prevents misunderstandings and ensures long-term success for both you and your client.
