Finding your way around Twin

This article shows where everything lives in Twin: the three columns, what Home is for, and how to reach search, help and your own settings.

Three columns on every page

Every page has the same shape. On the left is the navigation, in the middle the page you are working on, and on the right the assistant. The middle column changes; the other two stay where they are.

The left sidebar

From the top: the Twin logo, which takes you Home, and a button next to it that collapses the sidebar to icons. Then Search, Home, Projects and Clients. Pinned at the bottom are Help and your own first name.

Your name opens the user menu, which is where account and organization settings moved to in 3.0. It shows your name, email address and current organization, and holds Account, Document types and Log out. Organization appears if you may edit the organization's settings, Switch organization if you belong to more than one, and Manage organizations only for Twin platform administrators.

Home: what is waiting on you

Your Projects is not a list of everything, it is a queue. Each row names a project, the reason it needs you and its status, in this order: deadlines first, then plans waiting for approval, then open questions. The reasons read as Closes in 5 days, Plan waiting for your approval, Information requested or 3 tasks overdue. A link at the bottom counts the projects that did not fit, and All projects opens the full overview.

Your Tasks collects the open tasks from all your projects, grouped as Overdue, This week, Later and No date, with the project each one belongs to on the right. Tick the checkbox to mark a task done.

The assistant column

The assistant is always open on the right. Along its top sit a list icon for All chats, one numbered tab per open conversation, a + for a new chat and Fold panel. You can keep up to nine conversations open at once; opening a tenth closes the one you have not used for longest, which stays available under All chats. Tab titles are generated from the conversation and cannot be renamed. Drag the column's edge to make it wider.

All chats is the searchable history: a search box, a scope of All chats or This project, and the conversations grouped as This week, This month and Older. See Working with the assistant.

Fold panel collapses the column to a narrow rail with the tab numbers on it, which gives the page its full width back. The same rail unfolds it again.

Quick search

Search in the sidebar opens one box that searches everything at once. Results carry a label saying what they are: Document, Project, Client, Source or Chat. Click a result to go straight to it.

The Help menu

Help at the bottom of the sidebar holds three items.

  • Tutorial replays the product tour.
  • What's new? opens the release notes, newest release first.
  • Contact support opens support inside Twin, so you do not have to leave your work. Its Answers tab searches this knowledge base; the other tab sends us a message, with your name, email address and question.

The tour

The tour runs by itself the first time you sign in to 3.0 and can be replayed from HelpTutorial. It opens with a summary of what is new and a choice between Maybe later and Take the tour, then walks through three steps: the assistant column on the right, Projects in the sidebar, and the Your Projects queue on Home. On a document page there is a fourth step about seeing what the assistant does. You can close it at any point.
